  • Ultrasonic in plasma-electrolyte process application methodology

This article describes the combined method of plasma-electrolyte processing and subsequent ultrasound imaging of medical needles created from steel grade 12H18N9T. A functional diagram of an installation for medical needles plasma-electrolyte treatment is presented. A device for ultrasound diagnostics of microrelief in the obtained material is described. The actual task of ultrasound medical research is the quality of the processed tip. One of the ways to obtain deformation at the end of the needle is the electrolyte-plasma discharge method at the anode of a given material. In the course of the study, previously obtained results were confirmed, indicating that the plasma electrolyte process was caused by a fivefold or more excess of the cathode area relative to the anode area Sк≥5Sа. A study was conducted of plasma-electrolytic processing of steel grade 12H18N9T using anodic electrolyte. It is shown that in the plasma formation area occurrence around the anode, the current-voltage characteristic is practically independent of the electrolyte concentration. The patterns of formation of the depth of the hole at the end of the needle, determined by the process of melting the surface layer of the anode, which requires a uniform input of heat over a unit of time. The depth of the well and the wavelength of ultrasound are shown. It is necessary to apply roughness (holes) with a size of 10-1000 microns at different angles relative to the axis of the tube with a tip. On the research basis, a unique device «KLYON-1» was created, which performs the material processing and its control by means of ultrasonic radiation.

  • Experimental study of the process of freezing and thawing models of residual bone cavity when cooled with liquid nitrogen

A method, a device and an experimental model were developed to control the cooling and providing effective low temperatures during cryosurgical treatment of bone tumors. Using the developed device, a range of effective temperatures was determined under the action of liquid nitrogen on the model of the bone cavity. Two ways of cooling the residual bone cavity, instillation and contact, were compared. During the experiment it was proved that the contact method of cryoexposure on the residual bone cavity model is more effective than the instillation of liquid nitrogen according to the characteristics of the temperature field. The proposed experimental model of the residual bone cavity makes it possible to study the temperature field, determine the rate of freezing and thawing both with the contact method and with the instillation of liquid nitrogen into the bone cavity. The results obtained allow to develop preliminary recommendations on the technique of carrying out cryosurgical ablation of bone tumors.

  • Selection of optimal parameters of the method of segmentation of digital images of sputum

The article considers the application of criteria for assessing the quality of segmentation of digital images of sputum stained by the method of Ziehl–Neelsen to select the optimal parameter "Sigma" wavelet transform Mexican Hat. 830 digital images obtained by sputum smear microscopy were used as the study material. To assess the optimal selection of the parameter σ, we used the average number of objects selected in the images, the proportion of missed acid-resistant mycobacteria in the images, the homogeneity criterion and 3 complex criteria for assessing the quality of image segmentation. The analysis showed that with an increase in the parameter σ there is a slight decrease in the value of the homogeneity criterion. At the same time, the parameter σ increases from 2.4 and more according to the complex criteria, and the image segmentation quality improves. Thus, the most optimal values of the σ parameter of the Mexican Hat wavelet for segmentation of digital images of sputum stained by the cyl-Nielsen method are values in the range from 2.90 to 3.09.

  • On the possibility of detecting viruses with an optoacoustic method using carbon nanoparticles

The possibility of detecting viruses in biomedical research using the optoacoustic method with carbon nanotubes is considered in the paper. In this paper, we consider the setup used to detect optoacoustic responses from a sample, which allows the recording of optical-acoustic signals generated by carbon nanotubes attached to the surface of viruses in the blood and which have high optical absorption. When the sample is irradiated, the absorbed energy from the laser radiation is converted into kinetic energy by means of energy exchange processes. This leads to local heating and, consequently, to the appearance of a wave of sound pressure. By recording ultrasonic waves, it is possible to form a spectrum of the optoacoustic signal for the test sample, which can be used to detect the absorbing components in it.
