Incoming article date: 06.12.2016The article presents a summary of the global positioning systems and their application in the transport sector. The authors offer new opportunities for their effective integration into the traffic control system. In particular, information about the coordinates and speed of vehicles, transmitted to the traffic control system server can be used for adaptive control of traffic lights to control the traffic on dedicated lanes to detect speeding and parking in the wrong place, and many other violations of the traffic Rules. It is also possible extension of the information features car navigator. It is possible to add a "button" for sending location coordinates traffic accident or emergency road section. The main problem, which does not allow is to introduce authors' proposal lies in the fact that the proposed applications of navigation systems suggest a navigator in all or most vehicles. Moreover, these navigators must have access to the Internet. Now these navigators are on the market , but not all drivers have them. Not always navigators work in car. The authors suggest law requires drivers to use navigation systems both in motion and during stops for information on the location of the vehicle and its mode of motion.
